I have a degree in geology from the University of Maine at Farmington. My study was very busy with current interest in collecting minerals. I have collected for ten years now and has amassed a pretty decent collection of a variety of different minerals. Many of which came from mines located here in Maine. Some may believe that Maine is not a very good place for the collection of minerals, but this is not the case.

Maine has a very diverse geology, because the history of their formation of complexes. In consequence of this complex geological history of many pegmatite is in northwestern Maine. These guidelines are good, but hard to follow. At least they were for me. I have lost twice before they finally find the mine.
