While the presentations by the museum's curators were excellent, the pace was too fast to absorb the material. The book was an excellent supplement that I used to study details over a longer period. This reinforced the information furnished by the curators. The book is very well written and is useful for a person with little knowledge of geology. It furnishes clear and detailed explanations and I highly recommend it. This book deals primarily with the theories behind geology and uses a wide variety of interesting examples to assist understanding. Some helpful diagrams are included although the photographs could be improved. Avoids detailed and more advanced chemical explanations.
